Our love of circus was instilled in us pretty early. While we didn’t grow up IN the circus, we certainly grew up around it. In elementary school, there was a certain parent who came and performed relatively regularly. And after seeing him juggle and breathe fire in the cafeteria, all while dressed in a chicken costume, it was pretty hard NOT being interested. In addition to him, there was another circus group that really inspired us early on. They had a family circus of their own, and we saw them every year that we went to our local renaissance festival. So we had always had a passing interest in the circus arts, but it wasn’t much more than that. At least until we made a trip out the the Colorado Renaissance Festival. Seeing all the performers and feeling the excitement and joy, the two of us agreed that “This… this is what we want to do.” And so we did. Sticks dove headfirst into practicing percussion of all kinds, and Echo put in hours and hours of practice until together, we had a show worth watching. From there we performed wherever and whenever we could, for whoever would watch. And now our dream is to push our skills further and reach even more people.
